Sage Park Students Participate in an Environment-community Project
Sage Park social studies students learned how people can impact the environment and ways we can protect and preserve our planet. Several students worked on an environment-community project as a culminating activity and planted flower gardens at Sage Park.

  • Author Marion Blumenthal Visits Sage Park and Share Holocaust Experience
    For her 8th annual visit,​ Marion Blumenthal Lazan spoke to​ ​eighth grade students at ​​Sage Park Middle School. Marion Blumenthal Lazan, author and lecturer, was born in Bremem, Germany and arrived in the United States at age 13, three years after the end of World War II. Mrs. Lazan began speaking publicly about her Holocaust experiences in 1979; her memoir, "Four Perfect Pebbles" was published in 1996. Approximately one million students and adults in schools, organizations, and houses of worship in over 30 states, Germany and Israel have personally heard her messages of tolerance and respect.

    Mrs. Lazan gives a moving, firsthand account of the Blumenthal family’s life from events preceding Kristallnacht, to imprisonment in Nazi concentration camps, and finally to liberation. She asks her audiences to be tolerant of others and not stereotype individuals based on religious belief, color, race, or national origin. She stresses the importance of positive thinking as well as creativity and inner strength to overcome adversity. She warns her listeners to be true to themselves and not blindly follow the leader.

    Sage Park Middle School students and staff presented at the 2017 Empowered to Lead Symposium at Mohegan Sun last week.
    Students Anahi-Lee Cauley and Jaden Edison presented, with their advisers Jennifer Wilson, Christine Huestis, and Ophir Bullock, about the Sage Park Leadership Program. The group presented to educators from all over New England and discussed how their leadership program has impacted their school climate and middle school experience.
